Body & Sheetmetal done

IMG_3020[1].JPG

By now I’ve had the body on and off more times than I cared to count and moved onto interior sheet metal. This was a satisfying but time consuming job that I really got into. First piece was the passenger interior floor then the passenger right side walls followed by the firewall. I modified the gearbox tunnel area to address some prior modifications. This was all cleko’d in place and riveted out

I wanted a dash that would place the AIM PDM-08 dashlogger I intend to run at a level that was not obstructed by the steering wheel. What you see here is still cleko’d in place until I am convinced my view will not be obstructed when fully strapped in, but I like it so far. I also fabricated a mount for the remote reservoirs to sit in full view so that I can wonder what impending doom awaits if ever one suddenly loses brake fluid.

With the body reinstalled I fabricated the rear panels to close off the rear of the car to the interior. The hatch gives access to check and adjust oil level in the dry sump reservoir. These panels were particularly satisfying and really happy with how they came out.

this pic shows the body at 4” ride height which is where all the body reference dimensions are taken from. The AMCM rules allow 3” ride height so the cut outs in the lower valance allow for a floor jack to fit under the car. The entire front body will be removeable to give even better access to the front suspension, which is why the cleko’s are still in place (I haven’t decided on what type fasteners I will use just yet).

The view from the other side. You’ll see the wheels/suspension has a long way to go to reach the 79.5” AMCM track width
