Due to a series of unplanned and entirely unrelated occurrences, over half of the cars that had intended to run during our first oval race will not be able to make it on May 11th so we have no choice but to defer to a later date. Right now we’re looking at some time in July…
AMCM race at Houston Motorsports Park rescheduled

Unfortunately, the promoter at HMP has had to cancel their April 20th event, which is the race that AMCM had planned on participating in. We have shifted our race, therefore, to HMP’s event on May 11th. More info coming soon!
Drivers will be able to run practice sessions on Friday, and AMCM will have its own run group in the overall schedule of races Saturday night alongside HMP’s regular classes.
AMCM to race at Houston Motorsports Park

AMCM is very excited to announce that we will be racing at Houston Motorsports Park on their banked, 3/8 mile asphalt oval on April 20th. “Saturday night short track racing in an AMCM car will be all action and adrenaline for both our drivers and fans!” said Craig McCormick, AMCM co-founder.
Drivers will be able to run practice sessions on Friday, and AMCM will have its own run group in the overall schedule of races Saturday night alongside HMP’s regular classes.
2024 Technical and Sporting Rules Published

American Muscle Car Masters is excited to announce that the rules packages for the 2024 racing season have been published and are available here with very minor changes. Read on for more details!
Technical Rules Changes
There are two changes to the technical rules. The first is an increase to the cost cap for calipers from $550 to $650. The second is eliminating the restriction on front splitter materials. Both of these changes maintain alignment with TA2 rules in order to enable cars to easily cross over.
Sporting Rules Change
After considerable discussion with AMCM’s core, regular drivers, the decision has been made to have flying starts for all race sessions.

Technical Rules Changes
The biggest change to the AMCM rules package is the introduction of a GUD Racing Parts contingency program where the drivers finishing 1st-3rd in each race event’s Shootout race will be eligible to win credit at GUD Racing Parts. The amount of the payout increases based on the number of entrants, adding to both the challenge and reward for winning an AMCM Shootout!
Sporting Rules Change
Drivers will welcome the allowance to run a rear wing! Originally, AMCM avoided rear wings as a simple way to reduce the total cost of a car. However, many drivers are bringing in ex TA2 cars that already have wings, while many others simple preferred wings. Lets face it, wings do look cool! The wing rule is written to allow a TA2 spec configuration to be legal without changes, and allow a bit of flexibility for alternative commercially available wings, while at the same time keeping reasonable limits.
Another big change is the elimination of a power and track width handicap for non modern muscle car bodies for the next several years. AMCM is striving for a field of modern muscle cars, and originally allowed alternate bodies in order to help build car count, but these were handed a handicap as an enticement to re-body the car. Given the time and cost of such a conversion, we’re comfortable extending a window to enable drivers to plan, but removing the handicap so everyone in the field is going into a fair gun fight.
In the same spirit as the body rule change, for the next several years AMCM will allow cars to compete using wide 5 bolt pattern wheels and hubs.
Goodyear official tire of AMCM

Additional bodies to be allowed in 2022

AMCM is happy to announce that several additional bodies will be included in the 2022 AMCM Technical Rules. These added bodies are made specifically to fit over older style chassis that have windshield area cage tubes farther forward than the newer style chassis do. Allowing these bodies will give owners of older chassis cars the option to get into a modern looking muscle car body without having to perform cage modifications. This will reduce the overall time and cost needed to re-body an older car, while giving up very little in aesthetics.
“AMCM is committed to maintaining a muscle car look, but we recognize that cage work costs time and money. These bodies are good looking and will retain that muscle car feel we’re after in the series while giving drivers options to consider.”, commented series co-owner Al Fernandez.
The additional bodies are the AR Bodies Asphalt Sportsman, available in Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger variants, and the Five Star RaceCar Bodies North American Sportsman, available in Mustang, and Camaro variants.
Additionally, body rules for 2022 will include allowances for modifications to the bodies themselves to ensure drivers are able to achieve the series maximum track width.

AMCM visits NASA Central at MPH

Filling a gap in the Southern Tour schedule, AMCM visited the NASA Central region at their recent event at Motorsports Park Hastings in Nebraska. Colorado drivers Kent Rockwell and Branden Sumner took the opportunity to run in their first AMCM Shootout, joining regulars Cody Powell, Craig McCormick, and Al Fernandez. NASA Central played excellent hosts and allowed an extreme amount of green flag race time: two 30 minute races and two 40 minute races including of course the Shootout.
Cody Powell took the win in the Shootout, followed by Ken Rockwell and Al Fernandez, as well as setting the fastest race lap for future AMCM drivers to aim for. The track itself may be flat, but it is very busy with corners constantly flowing from one to the next and even a bend in the middle of the longest straight. The design of the corners leads to very different lines when running alone then defending a pass, and results in a lot of side by side racing. All the drivers agreed MPH makes for very good, close racing, as evidenced by Ken, Craig, and Al running in a tight group and swapping spots for almost the entire third race.
Since this event was added to the schedule with only a few week’s notice, AMCM decided to not include the results in the Southern Tour 2021 Championship run so those that were not able to attend did not lose ground. Its a very tight battle at the top with six drivers still mathematically in the hunt and only two events to go remaining!
Powell Hot at Summer Shootout
June 15th, 2021
Cody Powell in the #22 Dodge Challenger dominated the much anticipated AMCM Summer Shootout at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Oklahoma with Nasa Texas June 6-7th. Powell set the pace in qualifying with a 1:20.688 followed by McCormick in the #65 Mustang and Kerrick in the #67 Camaro. A standing start for Race 1 and a great jump from the line for Powell, who led the field to the checker with Molina in the #44 and Fernandez in the #5 Camaro duking it out for the minor placings. An inverted field for Race 2 saw Powell come from the back of the grid to take the lead and get to work on setting a new Hallett lap record of 1:18.859 with Molina and Fernandez battling it out for 2nd and 3rd.
Hallett can be a tough place and the 10 car field was whittled down with Cramm and Buisine out before qualifying was over. Reed, after a marathon to prepare his car, unfortunately returning home just before arriving. As we’ve come to enjoy in AMCM, Buisine and Cramm along with their crews jumped in to help other drivers out across the weekend.
Sunday morning saw Records in the #34 lay down some nice laps, after dealing with some issues on Saturday, coming from the back of the grid to take 3rd, with Kerrick in 2nd and Powell first to see the checkers.
The big race Sunday afternoon saw McCormick leave the line and move from 7th to 3rd before turn1 with Molina in 2nd Records close behind. A tight battle ensued into lap 2 before Molina closed the gap on McCormick into turn 4 and Records capitalizing on the passing opportunity to move into 3rd. McCormick succumbed to overheating issues shortly after and Records found the turn 2 tire wall after brake fade bringing out the double yellow. With the field bunched up and a green/white/checker finish Powell led the way home with Kerrick 0.480sec behind for the second step on the podium and Molina taking the third.
A solid performance from Kacprowicz throughout the weekend and some solid finishes from Molina and Fernandez will see a big swing in season points from this event.
Technical Rules Revision

AMCM would like to announce a revision to our rules regarding bodies. Previously, we had established a time window allowance for non Camaro/Mustang/Challenger bodies to help owners plan a body change while still being able to compete. This time window was based on our expectation that we would have a fairly long summer break. As our event schedule has evolved, that break has shortened substantially, and we feel it is too short for owners to comfortably make body changes. For this reason, we're switching from a defined window where non Camaro/Mustang/Challenger bodies are legal to an allowance to run other bodies, albeit with a modest decrease in both power and track width. AMCM is a muscle car series, hence the incentive to switch to the proper body. The reason for adjusting both power and track width is to ensure the impact of the adjustment is consistent on both very short, tight tracks like Hallett as well as long tracks like COTA. McCormick Strikes Back

Craig McCormick had about as bad a weekend as one can imagine at the season opener Winter Shootout, chasing oil system problems for two long days and nights and after finally resolving that, a plumbing failure resulted in a fire that severely damaged the car. Not giving up, he took the wheel of Rene Molina’s #27 Chevrolet powered car to sweep all four races at the Mother-in-law Shootout, take home the Shootout trophy, and set an AMCM lap record at MSRC! Al Fernandez in the #5 Camaro was giving him a real run for his money in the Shootout until a power steering failure forced him to slow. This allowed Rene Molina to ease past and take his first podium in 2nd place. “I really thought I had something for him” said Al Fernandez, “but there’s always a next time.” AMCM would like to thank our great partners: NASA Texas, Racing Junk, Allstar, DGK Race Engineering and AR Bodies. Powell Slams the Winter Shootout
February 1st 2021
Cody Powell in the #22 Dodge Challenger took a clean sweep at the inaugural AMCM Winter Shootout at MSR Houston with NASA Texas at the weekend. With strong competition from CJ Cramm keeping him in check all weekend, Powell started from pole position in the Shootout Race and the battle for the lead was fierce until Cramm retired suspecting a mechanical issue. From there Powell steered the Challenger home to take the Shootout win topping off his weekend with the lap record of 1:39.459 in Race 2. Al Fernandez in the #5 Camaro held off Rob Kacprowicz and Rene Molina lap after lap in a tight three way battle for the minor placings. Craig McCormick, co-owner of AMCM said “what a great success our first event has been and made possible through our great partnerships with NASA Texas, Racing Junk, Allstar and AR Bodies.” The AMCM drivers travel next to the “Mother In Law Shootout” at Motorsport Ranch Cresson with NASA Texas March 6-7th.

AMCM Partners With NASA Texas

AMCM and NASA Texas are happy to announce they have partnered together to bring AMCM racing to the Texas area. AMCM races will be run during/within NASA Texas events. The goal for both organizations is to have AMCM cars race within their own separate run group, but depending on the number of entries the two organizations will determine how best to fit AMCM cars within NASA’s classes into combined run groups. Either way, AMCM will feature an event championship, shootout style format to the weekend’s races.

AMCM announces body allowance
August 30th 2020
In consideration of the time and cost involved in changing the body on an otherwise eligible car, the 2021 Technical Rules have been amended to include an allowance as follows;
Any driver that competes in an AMCM event prior to June 1, 2021 will have until September 1, 2021 to have an eligible body
Beginning September 1, 2021, drivers will have until their third event to change to an eligible body
It is important to note that AMCM expects there will not be any events during the months of July and August.
